Madalyn was our model for this styled shoot that we created at The Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, Flordia. Madalyn Creates www.instagram.com/madalyn_creates She was one of the best models I have worked with, located in flordia. If you're looking for a model to work with she is your gal.
The Bridal gowns from Be That Queen Bridal www.bethatqueen.com were truly the centerpiece of this portrait session. The flowing fabrics, dramatic trains, and soft movement of each dress every gown moved beautifully through the historic archways and courtyards, catching the light in a soft and timeless way.
These bridal portraits were created by Heather Johnson Photography, www.heatherjohnsonphotography.com where the focus was not only on the beauty of the dresses, but the emotion and movement they brought into each image. From delicate textures to elegant silhouettes.
This blog is for the bride looking for romantic, and elegant portraits a bridal session at the Lightner Museum is such a beautiful place to be photographed at. These portraits were created for the bride looking for an editorial style — drawn to flowing gowns, historic architecture, soft fabrics, and photographs that feel editorial more than traditional posed portraits.
Madalyn helped bring these images to life so effortlessly. Her grace, movement, and natural elegance paired perfectly with the historic beauty of the museum. From the soft light falling through the archways to the movement of the gowns through the courtyards, the portraits feel timeless, emotional, and romantic.
With its weathered stone walls, grand archways, and soft natural light, the Lightner Museum creates an atmosphere that feels romantic, cinematic, and timeless. Every hallway and textured corner adds so much depth and character, allowing the bride to feel completely part of the historic beauty around her. The elegance of the space paired beautifully with the softness of the gown and veil, creating portraits that felt both fashion inspired and deeply emotional. Each image captured not only the beauty of the dress and location, but also the quiet excitement, emotion, and grace that comes with being a bride.
The Madalyn our bride in this session is calm and graceful in front of the camera. Her soft expression, natural movement. Instead of overly structured posing, the session focused on guided movement and emotion — allowing the veil to catch movement through the air, the fabric flows naturally, and the light to shape each portrait softly across her face and dress.
The gown became such an important part of the story throughout this bridal session. The delicate beading, layers of soft tulle, and the flowing veil added so much texture and softness against the historic stone architecture of the museum. As the veil drifted through the archways and wrapped gently around her, the portraits took on a dreamy, soft and romantic feeling. This allowed the fabric of the dress to fall creating movement in the photographs.
These kinds of bridal portraits are perfect for the bride wanting something more intentional outside of the pace of a wedding day. Without the pressure of a timeline, there is space to create imagery focused completely on her — her dress, her movement, her personality, and the feeling she wants to remember from this portrait.
Using the museum’s historic atmosphere, natural light, and editorial inspired posing, we created portraits that feel artistic yet authentic. The result is a collection of imagery to become artwork displayed in albums and on the walls of a home for years to come.
